STEALTH MEDIA GROUP SETS UP SUB-LABEL ‘STEALTH INDIE’
Stealth Media Group (SMG) is an all rights film and television sales company founded in February 2009 by film entrepreneurs Michael L. Cowan and Jason Piette along with the founder of Go For It Entertainment, Sean O’Kelly. SMG has subsequently become one of Europe’s most dynamic companies, involved in sales, distribution, production and structured film financing. And now Stealth Media Group is launching STEALTH INDIE.
Head of sales for SMG is Juan Vista Neis who was recently director of sales at First Look Studios and Nu Image Entertainment. Juan has been working in the business for over eight years and during that time has sold films such as: Dungeons & Dragons 2, Righteous Kill, After.life, An American Crime, A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints, The Loss Of A Teardrop Diamond and Religulous amongst many others. Juan Vista Neis is located in Stealth’s LA office with Jason Piette and reports to the Joint CEOs, Michael L. Cowan and Sean O’Kelly, who oversee all of Stealth’s sales activities.
STEALTH INDIE is a sub-label focusing on Indie films and will get behind talent to build long-standing relationships with the next generation of writers, directors and producers. Stealth Indie will produce, co-produce, finance and/or sell 3-4 films per year.
STEALTH INDIE will work closely with John Adams of Angry Badger Pictures who will oversee production as well as look to bring projects in. Angry Badger Pictures is the Shepperton Studios based Production Company of John and Pete Adams along with experienced Producers Ron Purdie and Ian Dray. As well as producing and delivering their own slate of original content (most recently the post apocalyptic action horror feature film S.N.U.B!), the Angry Badger Pictures team are constantly active structuring finance and servicing third party projects in key production roles, and have collectively been involved in over 20 completed features since the company’s formation in January 2008.
The first film out of the gate is the £2M ‘Everywhere & Nowhere’, a Monsoon Wedding meets 8 Mile styled film from the director of the UK indie hit Kidulthood. The film is already in pre-production and will begin lensing in London on May 21st for 5 weeks starring James Floyd (Tormented, The Infidel), Noel Clarke (Kidulthood, Adulthood, Doghouse), Faran Tahir (Lost, Iron Man, Two Mothers), Jimi Mistry (East is East, The Guru) and Tamer Hassan (The Business, Football Factory, Dead Man Running, Clash Of The Titans, Kick-Ass).
The second film currently in production is the drama thriller 7lives by Paul Wilkins, an urban re-telling of It’s a Wonderful Life. ‘7lives’ stars Danny Dyer (DogHouse, Severance, The Business, Football Factory), and Kate Ashfield (Shaun Of The Dead, The Kid) and is budgeted at £1.5M.
Also in production is the £1M Devil’s Bridge, a British Wolf Creek meets Deliverance written and directed by Chris Crow. The film stars Joshua Richards (Robin Hood, Troy), Joseph Millson (Casino Royale, Ashes to Ashes) and David Schofield (the ‘Pirates of The Caribbean’ franchise, The Wolfman, Gladiator).
Other movies currently in pre-production and scheduled to start shooting later in 2010 include:
The Magnificent Eleven - a modernization of the classic western in which the Cowboys are a local amateur soccer team, the Indians run a nearby Tandoori restaurant, and the bandits are a group of menacing thugs led by a maniac known simply as American Bob.
The film is a feel-good British comedy from Angry Badger Pictures written by John and Pete Adams to be directed by Irvine Welsh creator of Trainspotting and The Acid House as well as numerous best-selling novels. Confirmed cast attachments include Sean Bean (Flightplan, National Treasure, the ‘Lord of the Rings’ franchise), Dougray Scott (Hitman, Dark Water, Mission Impossible II) and Robert Vaughn (Superman III, The Towering Inferno, and last surviving member of the original ‘Magnificent Seven’).
‘Manor Hunt Ball’ – an intense action horror where Deliverance meets Severance in an action-packed manhunt movie. A gang of local youths crashes a high-class party at a country manor where they are horrified to discover that the modern gentry are now hunting working class people instead of foxes. Running for their lives, the gang must find a means of escape before they are picked off one by one.
‘The Scribbler’ - a Film Noir styled sci-fi action thriller from the writer and director team of Doghouse, Dan Schaffer and Jake West, and based on the critically acclaimed graphic novel written and illustrated by Dan Schaffer, originally published by Image Comics.
